Whether you are a Master, Mate, Deck Officer, Marine Engineer Officer or Able Seafarer, we can provide refresher training to meet your needs.

Our STCW refresher courses are bundled together for your convenience. So if you need STCW PISC and STCW Advanced Firefighting refreshers, you will find that they are conveniently timetabled one after the other.

If you also need a Fast Rescue Boat refresher, we offer a limited number of these, which are also timetabled together with the PISC/Fire refresher dates.

Certificates

The certificates you will receive on completion of this course  are:

  • Personal Survival Techniques Refresher
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft Refresher

If you also require the STCW Advanced Fire Fighting refresher please complete a second application for that course here.

Note: Certificates will be issued within 14 days of course completion.

Course Aim

The course is designed for students who have already completed the full STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats) course.

This refresher course is designed to meet the STCW refresher training requirements for:

  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques
  • STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats)

In accordance with the provisions of Section A-VI/2-1 and Section A-VI/1-1 of the International convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978, as amended.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be competent in the following lifesaving activities:

  • Don and use an immersion suit
  • Safely jump from a height into the water
  • Right an inverted life-raft while wearing a lifejacket
  • Swim while wearing a lifejacket
  • Keep afloat without a lifejacket
  • In addition, students will be able to manage and direct other persons on board a vessel to safely perform the lifesaving activities above
