This course will evaluate common aspects of risk involved in conservation-based activities.

You will learn to appraise levels of risk and determine the appropriate actions required to maintain personal and public safety.

Watch video content on weather maps and river crossings. Work through a scenario to strengthen your problem solving and thinking through a situation skills so you are ready and prepared.

This short course covers:

  • Risk management for group conservation-related activities

  • Basic weather principles

  • Weather maps

  • Using weather information to plan outdoor activities

  • Risk assessment for self and groups

  • Job safety analysis

This course is completed online. The estimated course load (including reading and watching content, and completing assignments) is approximately 50 hours and it is expected you would complete this within a month.
