Sandra is passionate about students gaining new skills to add to their existing skill base.

She enjoys helping others to make good use of application programs, particularly from the Microsoft Office family and providing students with the ability to access resources for their own lifelong learning.  This passion has come from her varied study and work background leading to her current teaching role on the Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Commerce at NMIT in 2006.

Sandra teaches systems analysis and design courses on the Bachelor of Information Technology as well as the Bachelor of Commerce financial accounting and accounting information system courses.

She started her working life as an accountant having completed a diploma in business, the professional accountancy exams run by the (then) New Zealand Society of Accountants and a Bachelor of Business in management.  Her initial jobs were with Inland Revenue Department and Audit Office New Zealand where she gained experience leading to the attaining her full membership of the New Zealand Society of Accountants which has now become Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.  Following a change in direction, Sandra retrained as a secondary teacher gaining a diploma in teaching and taught maths at Rai Valley Area School for 10 years. At this point, she then changed direction again completing a Diploma in ICT (level 6) and the Bachelor of Information Technology where she found a way of combining her experiences with accounting, maths and information technology into a new direction.

In addition to her business and information technology qualifications, she also has a Diploma in Science and Technology, Graduate Diploma in Information Sciences, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.  Her current study interests is in the area of using technology in learning.
