Part of the Skipper Restricted Limits Certificate now taught online

Because modern learners are demanding greater flexibility in how they study, many components of the Skipper Restricted Limits Certificate of Competency can now be taught online.

What does this mean for you?
You will soon see many educational institutes offering flexible, blended, online and other ways to study towards this certificate. But there are still components of this certificate that should, and will, be taught in a face-to-face environment.
As a learner, you need to make sure you get the right combination of online flexibility and practical face-to-face training with experienced tutors.

What support is available whilst you complete your 200 hours and Training and Record Manual at sea?
Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology have re-vamped their SRL Certificate in Competency programme to make the most of this new flexibility. You now only need 200 hours of sea time, and NMIT will support you through your online components to complete your Training Record Book. We will send you the course books and a chart so you can start straight away with a combination of online activities and your task record book. You will be in contact with NMIT from day one through our online study platform through Moodle.
This will allow you to get the theory along with a strong grounding in practical skills learnt in the experiences gained on board in various conditions.

Who will be your tutor, online and in your face-to-face components?
Our Maritime and Engineering tutors at NMIT will ensure you get the most out of the course. Each tutor has industry specific skills which they will pass onto you through different parts of the programme. Our tutors include a retired Naval Commander, Super Yacht Captain and Maritime Engineers.
