An overseas research team are heading this way from Malaysia, equipped with a Microsoft HoloLens 2 for people to try.
After spending the weekend at Empower(external link), a coding festival held at Marlborough’s Event Centre, the delegates will be at NMIT Nelson on 29-30 August, to share their expertise.
It is a chance to engage researchers from all programme areas, whether it’s IT, Nursing, Conservation or Sport and Recreation, to get them excited about the possibilities available through this new technology.
The overseas researchers come from four different tertiary institutions—Extended Reality and Human Interaction Centre of Excellence (ERHIC), Institute of IR4.0 from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) with its satellite partners, University Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Presentations, including opportunities for interactive experiences, will be held on Monday 29 August from both the visiting team and representatives from different NMIT areas.
Tuesday 30 August will begin with a talk from John Inglis, Director of International Curriculum and Trisha Krishnasamy, Curriculum Manager of Creative Technologies before opening the floor for industry questions and talks.

The session is being held in T Block, Nelson Campus, 29-30 August from 9:45am – 4pm each day. For invites, researchers can contact Gemma Cunniffe and students are welcome to join the research day sessions at any point.
